Got awesome original art? Submit it to the WAS! Your art needs to be completed by mid-January of each year to be ready for the WAS. So contact your high school art teacher. Show them your art and see what they think.
Your 2-D work does not need to be framed. Drawings, photographs, and prints should be matted and all 2-D work needs to be ready to hang. If you decide to frame your piece, you must have a wire on the back. 3-D work needs to have a quick diagram (sketch) of how it is to be displayed if it has more than one part. You will need to include the following information with your work:
Getting involved in the WAS does take some time and organization, but it is worth it! If you are a new teacher at a participating school, please ask the representative of your school to assist you with the process. If you are a new school to the WAS, please contact us directly by clicking on the link above.
03/22/10 drop off work from 2:30-5:00pm. Contact Peggy first, 890-0343 ext. 37333
Each school can submit up to 15 pieces of art. It is up to the individual schools to decide the process used to select the work. It is now the intention of the hosting school to show all of the artwork submitted by a school, whether or not the pieces win a cash prize. It is best to balance your submissions; for example, do not submit ten drawings but neglect photography. We like to have a balanced show. Click to view the categories!
Each student must fill out all the information on the form. Click for WAS form! Please firmly attach the form to the back or base of the work of art. Keep a copy for yourself and email a copy to Matthew Lutz as well as to the hosting school contact person. Please write your school acronym (“WMHS”) on the back or base in permanent marker of each piece in case the form is lost. All 2-D work must be ready to hang (It does not have to be framed, matted is OK). For work with more than one piece, please include a sketch of how it should be displayed.
It is the responsibility of each school to drop off and pick the work up for the show. Please submit the form and work on time; we need to process the information and judge the work.
